Quantitative Testing
Pre-Testing Guidance
Please ensure all delegates have read and understood the below prior to attending face fit testing. Failure to comply with the requirements will result in a cancelled fit test that you will still be charged for.
• Please note all employees who will be taking part in the face fit testing MUST BE CLEAN SHAVEN. Anyone who is not clean shaven, will be refused a test and the test / session will still be charged. For the avoidance of doubt, clean shaven means a wet shave in the area of the face seal of the mask. Facial hair that falls inside the mask and does not affect the seal against the skin, is permitted.
• Employees will need to provide their own masks. If anyone is unable to provide the masks on the day, please let me know AT THE POINT OF BOOKING.
• No smoking, vaping, eating or drinking for up to one hour before the test. This includes chewing gum and sweets. Water is allowed.
• If anyone wears glasses or PPE whilst they are wearing their mask, they MUST also bring these along with them for the testing. INDG 479 states that fit testing must be performed whilst wearing the other head worn PPE worn with the RPE.
• Each test takes around 20-30 minutes and is made up of a series of 7 exercises, lasting 1 minute performed whilst using a stepper. Exercises include normal breathing, deep breathing, moving head from side to side, looking up and down, bending at the waist and talking. Should anyone not be able to carry out these movements please speak to the technician on the day. Factors that will increase test times include re-tests and a lack of training on the respiratory protection. It is advised that customers create a schedule for the testing to avoid waiting time.
• Please note that we can not be held responsible for RPE that does not fit properly. A failed test will still be charged as per your original booking / invoice.
• If you have any medical conditions including asthma or claustrophobia, or if you are pregnant please inform the technician prior to your test taking place.

Please note that following a failed qualitative fit test we cannot repeat the test within a 1 hour period. Repeat testing is subject to extra charges and time available.
